Walkway Landscaping for Woodbridge homes

Woodbridge Township is really a dozen neighborhoods in one. We work across all of them, from Fords and Hopelawn to Iselin, Avenel and Colonia.

We work across Woodbridge, including Iselin, Colonia, Avenel, Fords, Hopelawn, Keasbey, Port Reading and Sewaren.

Built for Woodbridge ground

Clay is common in Woodbridge. It holds water and swells when it freezes — the main reason older driveways and patios here heave and crack. For walkway landscaping, we excavate below the soft layer, replace it with a compacted stone base and pitch the surface so water runs off instead of soaking in at the edges.

A walkway can be a straight strip of concrete — or it can be the thing that makes the front yard look designed. Walkway landscaping is about the route and everything around it: a curve that follows the beds, a dark border that frames the path, pillars at the entrance and lights you can see from the street.

What we design and build

  • Curved garden walkways — multi-tone pavers with a charcoal border, curving around beds and trees.
  • Side-yard paths — connecting the driveway, gate and backyard.
  • Entries with pillars — stone pillars and low walls along the walk.
  • Landings and steps — at the front door, side door or deck.
  • Lighting — path and pillar lights planned before the pavers go down.

Built to keep its shape

Curves are what make a walkway look custom, and they’re the first thing to fail when edges aren’t restrained. We excavate, compact a stone base, set edge restraint on both sides and lock the joints with polymeric sand. See also driveway & walkway paving.

FAQ

Walkway Landscaping in Woodbridge: common questions

What's the difference between walkway paving and walkway landscaping?

Paving is the walking surface itself. Walkway landscaping is the design around it — the curve, the border, the beds, pillars and lighting — so the walk looks like it belongs in the yard. We do both together.

Do curved walkways hold their shape?

Yes, if the edges are restrained. We compact the base and install edge restraint along both sides so the curve doesn't spread over time.

Can the walkway connect the driveway, front door and backyard?

Yes. Connecting those spaces is usually the point. We plan one route with matching materials from the driveway to the door and around to the patio.

Which parts of Woodbridge do you serve?

All of Woodbridge Township — Woodbridge Proper, Iselin, Colonia, Avenel, Fords, Hopelawn, Keasbey, Port Reading and Sewaren. Colonia has its own page.

Can you make a paver driveway work on a small lot?

Yes. A paver driveway with a contrasting border is one of the best upgrades for a smaller house. We plan the pattern so it holds up to turning tires.
